Paola Cortellesi's There's Still
Tomorrow is a smash hit at the Chinese box office, earning
enough at the turnstiles to put it already in third place after
Italy and France in terms of ticket sales after just two days on
the Asian giant's cinema circuit.
The Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing reported Monday that
the film, after only two days of screening, was seen by 450
thousand spectators and reached 2.45 million box office
receipts, placing it in third place for earnings worldwide,
immediately after Italy and France.
The institute also reported that the most popular film and book
review platform in China, Douban, gave the work - a hopeful
story of female emancipation in postwar Italy - a score of 9.4
out of 10.
In Beijing, the film was presented at the Emperor cinema in the
presence of both the director and star of the film, Cortellesi,
and the screenwriters Giulia Calenda and Furio Andreotti who
answered questions from the audience at the end of the
screening.
The event was also attended by the Italian ambassador to China,
Massimo Ambrosetti, and the director of the Italian Cultural
Institute, Federico Antonelli.
Calenda and Andreotti will then fly to Mongolia, guests of the
Italian Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, to continue promoting the film.
