Former Liguria governor Giovanni
Toti, who was forced to resign in a graft probe, has been placed
under investigation on suspicion of defrauding the State,
judicial sources said Monday.
Toti and regional councilor for civil protection Giacomo
Giampedrone are being investigated in the probe, they said.
The case, according to what was reported by Secolo XIX online,
concerns a contract, first as a co.co.co and then as an
employee, made with public money to Davide Marselli manager of
the San Marco beach club in Ameglia near La Spezia, which
Giampedrone and Toti frequent, according to the accusation, for
free.
The file was opened in La Spezia in conjunction with the
investigation that a year ago had led to the then president of
the Region being placed under house arrest for corruption.
