Italy's Oney Tapia won the gold medal
in the men's discus in the F11 category for the visually
impaired with a throw of 41.92 metres at the 2024 Paris
Paralympics on Thursday.
The 48-year-old Cuban-born athlete came in ahead of Iran's
Hassan Bajoulvand (41.75) and Spain's Alvaro Cano (39.60).
He is a well-known figure in Italy in part thanks to his
participation in the Italian version of the TV show Dancing with
the Stars.
It is the reigning world champion's fourth Paralympic medal
after he won silver in Rio in 2016 and two bronzes in Tokyo
three years ago, including one on the shot put.
