Claiming to dominate nature is a form
of idolatry, Pope Francis said Thursday in his Message for the
World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, to be celebrated
on September 1.
"To claim to possess and dominate nature, manipulating it at
will, is a form of idolatry," said Francis in his message for
the day, which is themed 'Hope and act with creation'.
"It is Promethean man, drunk with his own technocratic power,
who arrogantly puts the earth in a 'dis-graced' condition, that
is, deprived of God's grace".
