The Ambassador of Italy to Spain and Andorra, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, today presented his Letters of Credence to President Emmanuel Macron as co-prince of Andorra at the Elysée Palace in Paris, thus completing the procedure for his accreditation to the Principality, following the ceremony held in Urgell on 10 November 2023 with the presentation of his credentials to co-prince Joan Enric Vives i Sicília, Archbishop of La Seu of Urgell.
During the ceremony, also attended by some thirty ambassadors accredited to both the French Republic and the Principality of Andorra, co-prince Macron, on the Andorran side assisted by the Principality's Foreign Minister, Imma Tor, highlighted the close harmony that he has with the Archbishop of La Seu de Urgell in the definition of the Pyrenean country's guidelines and also referred to the agreement with the EU and the referendum that the Andorran authorities will organise in this regard, highlighting the Principality's virtuous efforts in fiscal matters and its constant and convinced rapprochement with the Union.
During the cordial bilateral meeting he had with President Macron, Ambassador Buccino Grimaldi conveyed the warm greetings of the President of the Republic, which the co-prince reciprocated by virtue of his "profound esteem and sympathy" towards President Mattarella.
