Ambassador Antonio Bartoli delivered his letters of credentials into the hands of the President of the Federal Republic of Nepal Ram Chandra Paudel. The ceremony, held in the Presidential Palace in Kathmandu, sanctioned the formal accreditation of the Italian diplomat, resident in New Delhi, also with the authorities of the Himalayan state.
"Our diplomatic relations date back to 1959," Bartoli noted. "With Nepal, we share a vast cultural heritage and a strong vocation for tourism, nature conservation, and combating climate change; the two countries are traditionally close at the international level in their commitment to multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of disputes. We are both among the main contributors of personnel to UN peacekeeping operations'.
During his mission to Kathmandu, Ambassador Bartoli had meetings with various representatives of the Nepalese government, including the foreign minister, representatives of the business world and the Italian community living in the territory.
"During my mandate, I will work to strengthen the different areas of bilateral cooperation: from political dialogue to science, from the preservation of cultural heritage to sport and, more generally, exchanges between civil societies," the ambassador anticipated.
