Yesterday evening, the Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Mariangela Zappia, opened a series of four evenings dedicated to Italian music in Washington at the diplomatic mission in Washington, in collaboration with the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Gianandrea Noseda.
Composer Nicola Campogrande, publisher Erich Hermann (Breitkopf & Härtel) and Maestro Noseda offered an interesting perspective on the new compositional frontiers of classical music. "Classical music is all around us even when we don't realise it, from TV theme songs to mobile phone ring tones to film soundtracks, and there is a lot of Italian in it, starting with the tempi indications, which also give the title to Nicola Campogrande's opera, Decisamente Allegro, which will be performed in Washington in the next few days".
A number of works for piano and flute by Nicola Campogrande were performed during the evening, which will continue in the coming days at the Kennedy Center in Washington under the direction of Maestro Noseda.
