Mission to eastern Canada by the scientific delegation led by the President of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics, Antonio Zoccoli, and comprising the Institute's Board and members of the National Research Council and the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development.
The mission is aimed at gaining an insight into the Canadian scientific reality in the fields of quantum technologies, artificial intelligence and nuclear energy, and to establish contacts with their counterparts. The visit follows the Roadmap for Enhanced Cooperation between Italy and Canada, adopted last June by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Borgo Egnazia.
The mission, organised with the support of the Scientific Office of the Italian Embassy in Ottawa, in coordination with the Office of the Scientific Advisor to the Canadian Prime Minister and the Embassy of Canada in Italy, has already made stops in Montréal and Ottawa, with dedicated visits to the main research centres of excellence.
Yesterday evening, a working dinner was held at the Residence of the Ambassador of Italy in Canada, Alessandro Cattaneo, with the participation of prestigious Canadian and Italian guests from the institutional, scientific, and industrial dimensions. The delegation will be busy until next 7 March in Toronto, Waterloo and Sudbury, where the Snolab underground laboratory is located, which has an important collaboration with the Gran Sasso National Laboratories on the study of dark matter.
