The 19th edition of Indian Ceramics began today in Ghandinagar, in the Indian state of Gujarat, with the presence of eight Italian companies. The Italian pavilion is organised by the Ice Agency in collaboration with Acimac - the Association of Italian Manufacturers of Machinery and Equipment for Ceramics - and is the only national collective, besides the German one.
Antonietta Baccanari, Director of the Ice Office in New Delhi took part in the inauguration ceremony together with Bhupinder Singh and Robert Schoenberger, representatives of Messe Muenchen, which organises the event, Mukeshbhai Kundariys, President of the Indian Ceramic Society, and Bollywood star actor Anil Kapoor, guest of honour of the event, who then visited the Italian stand.
"This trade fair," explains Baccanari, "is the main Asian event for manufacturers of ceramic and brick processing machinery, affected by growing demand from Indian tile companies. In 2024, the Indian ceramic industry was valued at EUR 9.58 billion, with a CAGR of around 10.17%, which is expected to reach EUR 18.63 billion by 2031. A key factor for this growth in the country is the migration from metropolises that have become too expensive to smaller centres, a phenomenon that increases the demand for housing in small and medium-sized cities. This real estate boom is fuelled by strategic initiatives and investments by the central government, which aim to promote infrastructure development and support the expansion of the ceramic market.
According to ICE data, India has imported a significant volume of ceramics machinery in the last two years. In 2024, Italy was the second largest supplier country, with a 35% growth in imports of certain types of machinery.
