On 27 February, a delegation consisting of several heads of mission of the diplomatic representations accredited in North Macedonia, which included the Italian Ambassador Paolo Palminteri, paid a visit to the impressive Bigorski Monastery 'St John the Baptist', located halfway between the towns of Gostivar and Debar and along the Radika river.
The guests were received by the secretary of the monastery, Archimandrite Dositej, who introduced them to the rich history, spiritual significance and cultural heritage of this thousand-year-old holy shrine, which today is led by the Abbot, His Eminence, the Bishop of Antania Mr. Partenij.
During the visit, they discussed the current challenges of the monastery, monastic life and its role as a spiritual centre promoting the spirit of intercultural coexistence. The ambassadors expressed their admiration for the beauty of the monastery, its multifaceted mission and the hospitality of the monastic fraternity. This meeting was further evidence of the international diplomatic community's continued interest and respect for Bigorski Monastery as one of the most significant spiritual and cultural centres in the region.
