The Italian Ambassador to Madrid, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, his predecessor, now Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, and the entire staff of the embassy express their deep condolences and immense sadness for the sudden death of the economist Aldo Olcese, Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (Omri) and a leading exponent of the Italian community in Spain.
Dr. Olcese," the embassy said in a note, "will be remembered for his always cordial and constructive manner and his constant and passionate willingness to support the embassy and our country system in Spain in the deepening of bilateral relations. A member of the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences, he was a point of reference for our entrepreneurial system in Spain, fostering the expansion of economic and trade relations between the two countries and strengthening the image of an Italy at the forefront of the international commercial and financial market. A man of dialogue, of refined political and economic culture, of profound civil passion, a builder of bridges, a sincere friend. His lofty example will remain a primary source of inspiration for the embassy and all those who had the joy and honour of knowing and frequenting him,' the note concludes.
