Italian Design Day was celebrated in Beirut, Lebanon, by a series of events organised by the Italian Embassy as part of the initiatives promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Foreign Trade Agency (ITA).
An exhibition of over 40 iconic objects of Italian design inaugurated the series of events. The ceremony was attended, among others, by Ambassador to Lebanon Fabrizio Marcelli and ITA Director Marina Scognamiglio. Francesca Brancaccio, Vice President of Assorestauro, and Fadlallah Dagher, Rector of ALBA, the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Art, also spoke at the event.
The Cal Group's initiative at the Collective for Architecture Lebanon (CAL), a non-profit organisation founded in 2019 in Beirut, was also presented. The Cal Group will be featured at the Venice Biennale within the Lebanese Pavilion. The project was commissioned by the Order of Engineers and Architects, in collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, to represent the country at the 19th edition of the Venice Architecture Biennale, to be held in May 2025.
As stated in the Italian Embassy's press release, the exhibition that inaugurated the initiative "included a selection of 42 iconic brands that embody the excellence of Italian design, ranging from interior and exterior furniture to furnishing accessories, from jewellery to lighting, presented by 22 renowned Lebanese counterparts".
