The 2025 edition of the Italian Design Day in the World was held at the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Mexico City, an initiative that sees the Bel Paese diplomatic network playing a leading role in the framework of the growth diplomacy strategy launched by Minister Antonio Tajani with the aim of strengthening design as a distinctive element of Made in Italy.
In front of the large audience that filled the IIC auditorium, Ambassador Alessandro Modiano highlighted the relevant aspects of this event.
'On the occasion of Design Day,' he said, 'we focus not only on design, production and trade issues, but also on aspects related to the global challenges of our times.
"If last year," he added, "the theme was sustainability and the circular economy, this year the event is entitled 'Inequalities, design for a better life', further demonstrating Italy's ability to tackle the great challenges of the planet in which we live from a creative perspective.
The day and the initiatives connected to it, the diplomat explained, are intended to highlight the contribution of Italian design in reducing inequalities and as a tool for greater inclusion.
"The event," Modiano concluded, "is connected to the upcoming international exhibition at the Milan Triennale, an institution recognised worldwide for its art, design, architecture and fashion exhibitions, which will be held from May to September this year and will have inequality as its main theme.
Italian Design Day is also the launching pad for the Salone del Mobile in Milan, one of the world's leading events in the furniture and design sector, which this year will take place from 8 to 13 April, focusing on export promotion, tourist attraction and the promotion of Italian professionalism abroad.
The celebration of the ninth edition of Italian Design Day in Mexico City was attended by Marva Griffin, artistic director, curator and founder of the SaloneSatellite exhibition at the Salone del Mobile.
