The Italian Consul General in Mumbai, Walter Ferrara, attended the 'Global Investor Summit' in Bhopal, capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The event, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, offered an important opportunity for dialogue between authorities, entrepreneurs and academics and a fruitful setting for Consul General Ferrara's visit, the first in Bhopal by an Italian consular representative in the last 20 years.
The summit provided an important stage to explore new areas of cooperation between Italy and Madhya Pradesh, particularly in the fields of trade, industry and culture. Consul Ferrara met, among others, the state chief minister Mohan Yadav, chief secretary Anurag Jain, principal secretary for industry Raghwendra Kumar Singh, and the rector of Jahan. The discussions revealed the possibility of partnerships in the fields of renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and infrastructure, areas of priority interest for Madhya Pradesh, as well as projects to strengthen inter-university cooperation.
Chief Minister Yadav expressed interest in cooperation with Italy in the field of advanced technologies, with particular reference to renewable energy, solar and wind power, and highlighted the importance of cooperation in agriculture, and in tourism, due to the presence of important archaeological and natural sites in the state.
'Madhya Pradesh,' said Consul Ferrara, 'boasts a strategic location in the heart of the country, and is one of India's most promising states in terms of economic growth, a hub of great interest for global investments. Its rich cultural and natural heritage, coupled with significant tourism projects, makes it a destination of growing interest for international tourism as well'.
