The presentation of the Fourth Ukraine Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA4), the report drawn up by the World Bank, the European Commission and the United Nations to assess the damage suffered by Ukraine and define reconstruction priorities, took place yesterday in Kiev. After introductory speeches by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Reconstruction Minister Oleksii Kuleba, the Italian Ambassador to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, discussed in depth with Economy Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko the results of the study produced by the World Bank on the devastating economic impact of the war in Ukraine and the financing needs for the country's recovery, estimated at over USD 500 billion.
"The reconstruction of Ukraine is not only about repairing the infrastructure, but also about the ability to revive the economy through all the sectors identified as strategic, including culture and, in perspective, tourism," said Formosa. Next, Antonella Bassani, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, outlined the institution's commitments to support Ukraine through financial and technical assistance programmes, together with representatives of the European Commission and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The meeting allowed a discussion on reconstruction strategies and international cooperation instruments to strengthen the country's economic resilience.
