The enhancement of Italian talent under 35: this is the aim of the Caffè Young Italy project promoted by the Italian Embassy in Riga, Latvia, whose first two public conversations were a great success with the public'. The embassy itself made this known. "Heirs to a great tradition, our young artists - said Ambassador Alessandro Monti - successfully promote Italian creativity in the world. With Caffè Young Italy we put in dialogue the contemporary cultural and artistic scenes of Italy and Latvia and lay the foundations for future collaborations". The project envisages the realisation of 10 dialogues, accompanied by parallel activities and moments of in-depth analysis, between young Italian creatives, artists or professionals and their Latvian counterparts active in the same sector.
Last 31 August, as part of the Latvian festival 'Homo Novus', the mission continued, a conversation on performing arts was held between Agata and Teodora Castellucci, Arturs Cukurs, Beate Poikane and Katrīna Dūka. The Italian dancers, belonging to the 'Dewey Dell' collective, also staged two performances of their show 'Le Sacre du Printemps' (both sold-out) and the performance 'I'll do, I'll do' as part of the festival.
On 6 September,' he continued, 'it was the turn of the conversation on visual arts, within the framework of Riga's 'Survival Kit' festival, which saw Italian-Tunisian artist Monia Ben Hamouda and Latvian artist L.
The dialogue,' the embassy recalled, 'was preceded by a tour of the exhibition at the heart of the festival, which also includes two works by Ben Hamouda, led by Finnish curator Jussi Koitela.
Caffè Young Italy is one of the winning projects of the second edition of the competition "Capitals of Italian creativity in the world" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The programme of events will be announced month by month on the channels of the Italian Embassy in Riga and also on the website caffeyoungitaly.it and on the dedicated Instagram profile @caffeyoungitaly. On the calendar for the month of October are three conversations, dedicated to information, literature and fashion.
