Pope Francis's situation as he battles
pneumonia in a Rome hospital remains complex and his prognosis
remains guarded, the Vatican press office said Friday.
The clinical condition of the Pontiff "remains the same as
described yesterday, a condition that doctors continue to define
as stable at this time, but the picture remains complex and the
prognosis remains reserved, with all the risks that this
presupposes and that remain", the press office said,
reiterating that "within this context the picture is complex".
Tomorrow there will be a new bulletin from the doctors, "with
some more information regarding the progress of the therapy".
The press office also confirmed that, "with regard to the
administration of oxygen to the Pope, the alternation between
night and day continues: mechanical ventilation at night with a
mask and high-flow oxygenation during the day, through nasal
cannulas".
According to sources across the Tiber, the current situation can
be defined as "a moment of waiting, to understand how the
situation is going".
